A pen scanner is a pen-shaped, handheld scanner that combines the functions of a scanner, an OCR program, a dictionary program and a translation program. Regular pen scanners connect to the PC through the USB port, and must be used with the PC. There are also stand-alone pen scanners. A stand-alone pen scanner contains the scanner, CPU, memory, a display, OCR and dictionary programs. It can be used without a PC for simple (word) translation. It can perform full featured translation when connected to the PC. |
